Composite Pressure Vessel Technology
In 2008, NEOgas entered into a technology transfer agreement with Russian high-pressure cylinder manufacturer to develop a new lightweight, low-cost cylinder specifically designed to transport larger volumes of CNG. The product will target markets where road conditions are poor and heavy 40-foot transport trailers are not a viable option.
Some of the goals of this project are:
- Remove weight as the limitation for transportation of CNG
- Capital cost of transportation module ($/Nm3) to remain competitive with steel tube trailers.
- Proprietary design
- Internationally recognized certification (EN & ISO 11119-3)
- Non-load bearing liner made from aluminum
- State of the art glass fiber used to wrap the liners for strength
- Have the ability to set up manufacturing in various markets
Standard ISO containers will be used to house the cylinders in transport applications. For a twenty-foot ISO container, the following specifications are anticipated?
- Working Pressure – 250 Bar
- Cylinders – 32
- CNG Volume – 4160 Nm3
- 20’ Long x 8’6” High Standard ISO Container
NEOgas expects to begin distribution of this product in late 2009.
